Vivian and Lewis – Denouement!

*sigh* Well, it appears all has not been well in the fairy-tale romance of Vivian and Lewis. The News of the World, a well known, UK trashy tabloid, posted an “interview” with Vivian in which she apparently discusses, among other things, Lewis’s stepping out on her:

“But days after Lewis got into bed with me he was pictured cosying
up to Nicole in Monaco. I was very disappointed. I thought he could
have shown me a little more respect.

“It looked like he was playing me. And I felt the world was laughing
at me. He called me soon after and has been in touch almost every day
since but I don’t even want to talk to him about it.

*cough* Um.. well. OK. I’m not sure where or what to say about that interview, except to say that this is News of the World – the same tabloid that routinely publishes UFO and alien-baby stories so …. Oh who am I kidding! Vivvy did a VIDEO interview with them! I can’t even hypothesise that she was misquoted or her words twisted. Oh Vivvy! Spilling one’s soul to the tabloid media? I’m disappointed. It does not surprise me that Lewis is a man-ho, and broken heart or not it shouldn’t surprise Vivian either, but kissing and telling is in such bad form!

Evernote

I enjoy figuring out new applications and software and recently came across Evernote which has me a little excited. Evernote is basically a note-taking app – I say basically but believe me the potential uses I can find for it are a little overwhelming. Check out Evernote here.

Evernote is currently in closed public beta, which means you have to apply for an invitation to sign up. I have 10 invitations to give away – if you are interested just drop me a note in the comments or send me an email.

Oh, by the way, Evernote is currently FREE for the beta testers.

Firefox sets a record…

….. for loudest server crash ever!

You would think that after so much time promoting their FF3 Download Day they would have taken a few minutes to make sure their servers could take the load. Their download servers are still down; the official Mozilla homepage link is still showing FF2 as the “most recent” build.

[Refreshing my browser window every 2 minutes is probably not helping those poor old servers, but I can't help it. *sweating & jonesing*]

UPDATE: I got it! :D And it is super-fast!

Electioneering Ploy #3

Prime Minister Keith Mitchell announced at a rally on Sunday that “the government” will be paying out EC$8m in backpay to public workers, including teachers and police officers. This backpay disbursement is supposed to occur on Wednesday June 18.

The current government has been battling with the teachers’ and nurses’ unions for years about backpay and retroactive salary increases. Now, 3 weeks before the national election, $8m has suddenly materialised in our Treasury? Really??

The announcement Grenada has been waiting for!

Well it’s official! Prime Minister Keith Mitchell announced the long-awaited date of the next general election – July 8th 2008.

This gives us a month’s worth of corn-beef-and-rum campaignery, general candidate assholery, over-the-top promises, grand pronouncements, extraordinary personal attacks and of course – good, old, straightforward lying. Oh yes folks, silly season is upon us. And I, for one, cannot WAIT! :D
